Fall Essentials (All Things Cozy and Fun)

Let’s take a break from all things hair and beauty and talk about…fall! After all, it is September, the weather here is feeling cooler and the one thing that is bringing me comfort right now is lighting candles and wearing fuzzy socks.

With this time of year comes lots of traditions. Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Christmas are all coming up and they each bring their own kind of excitement.

With that being said, I wanted to name a few things I love to do this time every year that add to the excitement of changing seasons.

Cozy vibes and cozy smells create such a wonderful environment to live in. There is something about the flickering flame giving off a sweet pumpkin spice scent that relaxes the mind and soothes the body.

No fall goes without candles in my house.

Some of my favorite fall scented candles include pumpkin, vanilla spice cookie, and apple cinnamon.

Favorite places to shop for candles include: Bath and Body Works, Winners (if you are in Canada) or HomeSense/Marshalls, Yankee, and the local boutiques in town

Carving Pumpkins

The ultimate list of disney pumpkin templates

Tradition says this activity only happens around Halloween and Thanksgiving, but I say this should happen anytime in the fall once the pumpkins come available.

It is such a sweet activity to do with loved ones that takes our minds off the world of social media and other meaningless distractions and puts it on human interaction and exercising our creative muscles.

Carving different designs into the pumpkins and using them as fall décor is a simple way to bring a little excitement to your house if you are like me and don’t like to purchase tons of new décor that only sits out for a couple of months.

Going to the Pumpkin Patch and/or Fall Festival

Since moving to a small town, there is less opportunity for places like this to be open around me or these events to take place, but it is worth going if you have one around.

The atmosphere around really helps us to find joy in this season change, which I know is not easy for everyone to accept when summer initially begins to fall behind us. It’s uplifting to be around other people having fun, eating good food, and enjoying the outdoors in a unique way.

Warm Sweaters and Fuzzy Socks

Can we all agree that there is just something about wearing cozy clothes that brings an overwhelming peace and satisfaction?

Cozy to me looks like long, thick, and warm sweaters paired with extremely soft and thick crew socks that just go so good with leggings. Am I making you want to get dressed all cozy now?

A few of my favorite places to get these items include: American Eagle, Old Navy, Roots (if you are in Canada), and Target (if you are in the US)

Baking Treats

Last but not least, baking treats, especially pumpkin treats, is a must at this time of the year. The smells in the house, the smiling faces of those you share with, and the satisfaction of your own taste buds as it goes down… what could be better?

A few of my favorite treats to make for fall are pumpkin pecan scones, pumpkin bread, zucchini bread (with cinnamon), snickerdoodles, and salted caramel butterscotch scones.
