I’m not sure what it is, but lately, the last thing I have wanted to do is put on heavy foundation in the mornings. I’ve recently found some replacements that still offer great coverage but feel lighter on the skin and appear a bit more natural.
In addition to this, I have learned how to utilize products like bronzer, blush, and highlighter to give a fresh “ready to go” look without a layer of thick foundation underneath.
I wanted to share with you two of my current favorite go to foundation alternatives in case you might be looking for this yourself. Let’s jump in!
#1 Favorite- Tarte BB Tinted Primer
Can you believe that this primer acts as a true foundation for me most days?!
I will say that because my skins natural complexion doesn’t offer much grace, I was surprised to gain enough coverage for my liking with this tinted primer. But truth be told, I am pretty constantly blown away by Tarte products, so I am also not completely shocked.
This vegan primer is designed to create a smooth finished look and that’s exactly what it does. It can be used under foundation or it can be used by itself. When I am going out and want more total coverage, I will use it under my foundation. Otherwise I use it alone.
What I also really love about this product is that a little goes a long way. A small dollup spreads so evenly on the face and provides a smooth, matte finish. The Triple-B Complex that is in this primer also helps to lighten fine lines and wrinkles. I can’t tell you how true this is for my own face.
I absolutely love this primer and it will forever be a staple in my makeup stash!
#2 Favorite- Smashbox Halo Healthy Glow Tinted Moisturizer
This product I purchased about two weeks ago and I am loving.
I enjoy the coverage for a day that I really just don’t want much. It isn’t matte like the Tarte BB Primer, but it produces a nice glowy finish!
This product can absolutely be used alone or with other finishing products. I often lock this product in with my Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder and that gives me a nice middle ground between glowy and matte.
It definitely allows for your natural skin complexion to shine through whether you have freckles or flush skin, it acts as a soft enhancer of what’s already there.
This product can also be used under foundation on nights out for fuller coverage.
Lastly, Smashbox has created this tinted moisturizer with amazing skin loving, vegan, and cruelty free ingredients which is something we can stand behind.
I am loving using these two lighter alternatives to foundation on an every day basis. If you are looking for something light that has a matte finish, go for the Tarte BB Primer. If you want a super natural, glowy finish, go for the Smashbox Halo Tinted Moisturizer.
You won’t be disappointed!
