The sun is starting to show up more consistently these days and we are finally beginning to feel the warmth of it!
I don’t know about you, but my mood is greatly impacted by the sun… And for that, I feel super thankful for its regular appearance lately!
But there is one detail we should be aware of when it comes to the hot sun and our hair- it certainly has the potential to dry it out and cause some damage if we don’t properly protect it.
So how can we do this? I have three easy methods for you to take into consideration before going out and sitting in the sun for long periods of time!
1. Wear a hat
This is the simplest method because I am sure all of us own a cap. Yes, it may leave you with hat hair, but it is worth it as it is the most effective way to be able to sit outside for extended amounts of time while avoiding sun damage to your hair!
The added benefit to a hat is the bill which will protect your facial skin from sun damage as well.
Get a cap my friends. Take care of the health of your hair!
2. Use a leave in conditioner with SPF
If you invest in only one new hair product for the summer, I recommend you purchase a good leave in with SPF. This is going to coat your hair with a protective layer on the days you don’t want to or can’t wear a hat!

3. Wear your hair up in a ballerina bun with a scrunchie
I recommend the first two methods of protection as go to’s before this option, but this can be better than simply leaving your hair down and letting it bake in the sun!
I recommend you use a scrunchie to pull your hair up in a tight ballerina bun to prevent breakage or excessive weight on your hair.
Wearing your hair in a top knot will prevent majority of your hair from seeing the sun which is better than nothing. If this is your only option, I highly recommend it!
